The sea and the algaes
Biosimililarities of behavior
Vegetal Coral, or coralline, is a category of algae with an original appearance. Based on this observation, Phytocéane research has developed face and body care ranges in which hydration plays a vital role. Perfectly moisturized and balanced, the epidermis is able to receive the benefits of the specific active ingredients that it needs. Due to its process of calcification and its method of trapping in vital elements, this alga forms a resistant structure with amazing powers as it grows. Its protective shell is able to trap in minerals and trace elements in seawater. This feature makes marine vegetal coral a true concentrate of seawater.
Phytocéane research has demonstrated that the epidermis and the protective envelope of Jania rubens vegetal coral have similar behaviors and functions. This is called biosimilarity. In other words, they play the same role: to protect the organism from the damaging effects of the environment and maintain maximum hydration rates.
Using this discovery as a starting point, Phytocéane formulates products that perfectly respond to the vital needs of the skin, as they take into account the specific nature of these needs.
An infinite scientific research field
The marine depths represent immense potential:
- There are over 35,000 types of algae in the world and only 1% is used.
- More locally, there are 800 species of algae living on the coasts of Brittany, yet only a few dozen are used in cosmetology.
This vast and unchartered research field offers the possibility of new and wondrous discoveries. It promises a beautiful future for marine cosmetology.
Discovery of the Coral Bay
In the North of Brittany, between the Sillon de Talbert and the Ile de Bréhat, Phytocéane has discovered an area rich in corallines.
Once an important religious center in Europe, then the theater of ferocious combats, this zone regained its initial calm, which gave way to flourishing natural habitats of wild fauna and flora. Over 800 species of algae live together in this unique maritime site, where the deep blue sea is constantly pushed by the ebb and flow and sometimes blown about by storms and violent winds.
Maerl, a specific marine coral, has been added to the Phytocéane range of ingredients, once more demonstrating the diversity and richness of the oceans. It promises a great future for developing the quality of our products, which are always made from 100% natural ingredients.
